Nonlinear interaction of two non-uniform vortex sheets and large vorticity amplification in Richtmyer–Meshkov instability

Vortex dynamics is an important research subject for geophysics, astrophysics, engineering, and plasma physics. Regarding vortex interactions, only limited problems, such as point have been studied. Here, the nonlinear interaction of two non-uniform sheets with density stratification investigated using sheet model. These appear, example, in Richtmyer–Meshkov instability that occurs when a shock wave crosses layer corrugated interfaces. When strong approaches weaker opposite-signed vorticity, locally peaked secondary vorticity induced on latter sheet. This emerging results remarkable amplification stronger sheet, core formed involving weak The amplified vortices opposite signs form pseudo-vortex pairs, which cause intense rolling-up sheets. We also dependence distance initial phase difference perturbations between dynamics.
